Braided Roots

You are the pieces of me.  All the good and the bad,

You are the jagged edges and misshapen aspects of my soul,

The ones that won't fit but we push to try and place,

The ones that fill up a frame and make it whole,

You are the breath in me.  The shallow and deep,

The ones that rattle and keep you from sleep,

The short gasps, and the long sighs of relief,

You are all of those, The heart in me.  The one that fills my chest,

Not only the corner but every square inch of every muscle and beating vein,

That stabbing pain of words and the bountiful joy of your song,

The eagerness of right and the angst of wrong,

You are me, all of me,

We are braided roots.
